What's Wrong with Public Education Today?


This goes long way to describe the sad condition in our public schools today, the top down insistence on standards and testing driving the instructional program and the frustration of teachers who have more and more added to their "to do" lists while class sizes rise and the numbers of students unable or unwilling to learn sit next to those who know what they are there for; an education. Having spent 38 years in the business; having evaluated thousands of challenging kids, attended a thousand more meetings, written tens of thousands of words to guide teachers, parents, and the students themselves to the keys to their success, and having had, well, maybe hundreds of arguments with administrators...I will always...always side with the individuals who spend their days in the classrooms, and their nights at the kitchen table...the teachers.
